About Lenovo Servers

Lenovo System x servers are equipped with an Integrated Management Module (IMM) to facilitate out-of-band management. Hardware Sentry KM can communicate directly with the IMM via SNMP, with the Lenovo IMM (SNMP) connector.

This monitoring method is also applicable to most M4 and all M5/M6 generation of IBM xSeries servers.

Alternative Monitoring Methods

In-band monitoring options are available if the IMM cannot be used for monitoring. These options rely on OS components and vendor applications.

In-Band Windows and Linux

Prerequisite:
MegaRAID Storage Management (MSM) Application (including SNMP Agent) (if RAID card installed).

Connectors:

Known Issues: Physical Disks are discovered twice (by LsiLogic and IPMI)

In-Band ESX (remotely)

Prerequisite:
LSI MegaRaid agent for ESX (if local RAID controller present)
